uM workstation concept
- Problem: Micropipette based research techniques provide invaluable data, but are difficult and slow to perform
- Solution: uM workstations automate laborious steps and workflows to facilitate deployment and to improve throughput
- Technical concept: accurate and synchronized sample, pipette tip and objective positioning in closed-loop control with the pipette-cell interface pressure and recorded electrical signals
- Applications: in vitro and in vivo patch clamp, single cell microinjections and cell picking for genetic analysis; often in sync with imaging and opto-stimulation
Affordable and scalable – from supercharged classic setups to automated workflows
We believe automation is the future also in electrophysiology and imaging, but we also understand that going all the way is not always feasible or even beneficial. Automating specific laborious step or partial workflow of an experiment is often enough for significant throughput improvement. We have designed uM workstations to be affordable and modular to facilitate wide adoption (see our webstore for pricing).
Sensapex products are based on proprietary and patented technologies, which integrate together via fully digital and parallel control architecture. This provides smallest control latencies, unlimited scalability and most versatile PC control interface (Ethernet; open-source Sensapex SDK).
uM workstations are designed to be used with automation software – either using lab-based developments or based on available software such as the Python-based ACQ4 platform, which has growing user base for the automated techniques. This type of automation is highly application-specific, which is why we provide the tools, but do not provide the ready made automation. Join us and growing user community to implement latest technology to your experiments!
Examples of unique features – please contact us to discuss your requirements
-
- uMp-TSC touchscreen unit and uMp-RW3 rotary wheel controllers provide stand-alone control interface for all Sensapex products. In addition to basic operation, many usability improving features and system level functionalities are available through quick buttons for convenient use.
- All configuration and control is driven from the touchscreen unit – no additional software or PC is required
- 1-click automated pipette cleaning from uMp-TSC touchscreen for immediate re-use with another cell.
- Automated movement sequences can easily be programmed in the TSC touchscreen unit.
